The Union of Mediterranean Confederations of Enterprises (BUSINESESSMED) represented by Mrs Monia SKhiri (Secretary General), participated in the informal Euro-Mediterranean Meeting, which took place in Paris on July 8th 2008 at the Ministry of Economy at Bercy. The Conference for the Launch of « in med invest » project by ANIMA Investment Network took place in Marseille on July 1st and 2nd 2008 in the Head Office of the Regional Council PACA. The Conference was the opportunity for the official presentation and signature of the co-operation protocol. This conference helped to clarify the project , its operation, the activities to be undertaken and to identify the priority target sectors to be dealt with in the debates and workshops. Attended this conference ANIMA Investment Network, EUROCHAMBRES, ASCAME, BUSINESSMED and the other special partners GTZ, ONUDI and EPA Euro-mediterranean.

BUSINESSMED held its second Management Committee on May 3rd 2008 in Beirut under the presidency of Mr Jacques Jean Sarraf as well as the Presidents of founder member organisations, Mr Habib Yousfi – CGEA (Algeria), Mr Hatem Halawani – JCI (Jordan) and Mr Abdul Rahmane Attar – CCI (Syria). European business organisations “Invest in Med”- New 12 million EUR project to boost EU-Med relations  

A consortium of European business organisations launched today “Invest in Med”, a 12 million EUR project – co-financed by the European Commission – aiming at encouraging European investments in the Mediterranean region and developing solid links between Med companies and their European counterparts.
The project – which will run for 36 months involving the 27 EU Member States and the 9 Southern ENPI partner countries (Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, the Palestinian Authority, Syria and  Tunisia) – has the ambition to foster the volume and quality of Euro-Mediterranean trade and foreign direct investment, as well as to contribute to a sustainable economic development of the area.
